Children & Adult Mobility Project has started the "Recumbents for Troops Connecticut Adaptive Cycling Club" to provide adaptive cycling opportunities across the country to help wounded warriors restore their physical and emotional well-being. The cycling experience provides our military men and women with a means of exercise and camaraderie with their families and neighbors as they courageously battle the physical and psychological damages incurred at war. Through the exhilaration of cycling, warriors embrace possibilities for the future in a supportive environment with fellow cyclists. C.A.M.P. provides equipment and support to participants. C.A.M.P. raises funds through donations and supportive rides and initiatives to ensure this generation is the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded warriors in our nation's history.
Children and Adult Mobility Project has also launched "Connecticut Adaptive Cycling" a hand-cycle, recumbent Trike and adaptive cycling program for children and adults in Connecticut. The program will offer recreational rides on the East Coast Greenway, Farmington Valley Rails to Trails pathways which extend from New Haven to the Massachusetts line. CAC will seek out competitive rides and venues as the participants can handle. The adaptive cycling program is designed to allow physically challenged children and adults to participate in a team, group environment, at their own individual level based on age, physical ability and riding skills. CAC uses athletics as a vehicle not only to grow stronger physically, but additionally to experience the team concept, team camaraderie and personal self esteem. It allows for the physically challenged athletes to participate with others experiencing similar life challenges, while at the same time allowing for family members and friends to also participate.
